Sydney Royal Fine Food Show
16 –24 August 2006
The surge in popularity for cupcakes was recognised recently by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) with the Cupcake Class in the Bread, Cake and Pie Competition of the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.
The cupcake phenomenon has taken the world by storm, and Australia is no stranger to these sweet and small treats. The increase in popularity of cupcakes has led to companies purely dedicated to the sales and creation of cupcakes.
The business of cupcakes has grown into more than just those cute desert items. Strong industry competition has seen a push in creativity with cupcakes incorporating intrinsic designs, experimental flavours and lavish ingredients. Cupcakes has now become the new wedding cakes, promotional items and even a hot topic for web-bloggers.
Yet the tasty question remains – who makes the best cupcakes? This task was left to the industry experts who form the judging panel of the Sydney Royal Fine Show. Cupcakes were judged on quality of filling, quality of finish, general appearance and volume.
And the answer is –Cupcakes on pitt, who took out the Most Successful Cake Exhibitor Award in the cake and pastry category, and who also won gold as well as five silvers for their six cupcake varieties including milk chocolate, lemon meringue, peppermint, vanilla, strawberry and carrot.
So, the prize of the coveted Sydney Royal gold medal, a symbol of industry excellence, goes toCupcakes on pitt, a testament to the high quality of the company’s products.
